High school, the last four
years of the twelve-year public education, helps prepare the
future leaders of tomorrow for college. According to Ana
Falla-Riff, College Bound coordinator for the Renaissance
Charter School (TRCS), college is the last portion of my
educational advancement that will help students prepare for
life. As a student at Rochester Institute of Technology
(RIT), I hope to contribute my abilities to this community
which I tend to spend my undergraduate college years
attending. With my talents and skills, I hope to help fight
for the students in advancing the technology used here at
RIT and diversify this campus by brining what I know and
coaching them to my peers who may possibly have never heard
of such things.
To many student and staff’s
eyes, I’m just an average kid majoring in Engineering
Technology at RIT. But obviously they are kind of mistake
that my high school students and staffs had made who later
found out to believe that I was not just an average kid.
They have noticed that I am a student who likes to challenge
himself in things he like, technology and play around with a
problem for hours, even days and find a solution for it just
like Russell Crowe in “A Beautiful Mind.” Just as I have
seen problems in the technology used in my high school, I
see them here. The handicapped doors opening too slow, the
long lines at Gracies making students be late to class, the
lack of wireless service at Peterson Hall, and the quarter
mile walk making students tired when they arrive to class at
last. These problems can be solved with the right
advancement just like a quadratic equation can be solved by
using the Quadratic Formula. You can easily get rid of the
long line waiting by installing a swipe-your-self
card-machine, easily change the opening time limit for the
handicapped doors, install a router near every building, and
underground mechanical walkways. I tend to fight the needs
of people and help make students life here at RIT much
easier.
Back in my high school years,
I have participated in a program called BotBall. BotBall is
a hands-on learning experience in robotics designed to
engage students in learning the practical applications of
science, technology, engineering and math. I have enjoyed
this program and have learned much from it that has helped
me find a career of interest. According to the BotBall
website, college students, hobbyists, engineers, teachers
can participate in a challenging robotics program where they
must construct a robot of their own by using robot design
and strategy to move objects into scoring position in a
challenging robot face-off in the competitions. As a lover
of the BotBall program, I wish to bring my hobby and make it
a reality here at RIT. I wish to introduce the BotBall
program and creating a new club where those who are
interested can join and help us create the most butt-kicking
robot that can help us in the competitions. They are to
learn coding and design work just like a real professional
engineering should know and learn to apply that in a way
that they are successful.
Rochester Institute of
Technology is a great school that shows great dedication and
passion to their students. I am just a student who is trying
to make a good impression to the school staff and students.
Knowing if someone does not speak up and fight for their
beliefs not many will. I wish to be that person who triggers
the revolutionary voice of need from the student that can be
heard not just here at RIT but also around the world. I wish
to help advance the technology that will suit the students
need and introduce this community to new things that it has
not seen before. I have dreamt of becoming a well known
engineering back when I decided that’s what I wanted to be,
and I look forward to making my dream a reality with the
help of the RIT community.
